Our friars' thoughts on this week's readings

Fr Raymond 7:30 Mass - Baptism takes away sin. Jesus is sinless, but, He comes to us as one of us, as a human being, and he takes upon Himself our own sins. There’s more to Baptism than the remission of sin. It’s a giving of God’s life to us. We are, by baptism, made children of God.

Fr Robert 9:00 Mass We must never forget that we are sons and daughters of God. And that is not only a relationship that goes like this: vertical- Father/ Son, [or]  Father /Daughter; But when we are children of God, what it does, is,  it changes our relationship with each other. If we are all sons and daughters of God, we are all brothers and sisters. If we ever liked that, the whole world would be a different place.

                           See Fr Robert's blog- http://frbobs.blogspot.com/

Deacon Carmen 12:00 Mass When Isaiah promises that God would bring out prisoners from confinement and from the dungeons,
those who live in darkness;  we understand that dungeons are not necessarily fixed places of concrete and iron bars. Some of us carry around a portable prison. A darkness from our youth, perhaps, or the present darkness of the world around us. In Matthew’s Gospel,  Just as he entered the Jordan to be baptized along with the repentant, so also He enters our darkness.
