An Altar Server is a young person who is invited by the parish to assist the priest at Mass and other liturgies of the Church. This ministry is just one of several liturgical ministries.
The ministry of Altar Server is open to all Catholic young people who have reached the fourth grade in school and have been Baptized and received First Communion. The Altar Server or his/her family must also be registered as members of St. Paul Parish.
Training and formation for the ministry of Altar Server is offered once a year. The classes include learning the movements and gestures and other skills required for serving at liturgies as well as gaining an understanding and knowledge of the Mass and its parts.
