1. You will no longer be able to complain, "Church is so impersonal--I don't know anyone in my parish."
2. Psalm 100 will come to life for you as you make joyful noise unto the Lord.
3. Intellectual stimulation--when you make music, you are using both sides of your brain simultaneously.
4. Serving the Lord--considering all He does for us, it's just a little giving back to Him.
5. Serving others--the congregation really loves it when the choir leads the singing.
6. Every once in a while, you might get a sense of heaven's choir singing along with you. (this is sometimes due to the extra oxygen intake, since you eventually develop and expand your lung capacity.)
7. You never know--your music director might decide to take the choir to Rome to sing at the Vatican!—Well… at least some kind of retreat, like Enders Island.
8. Choir parties--they're fun!
9. You will be setting a good example for all the children and teenagers.
10. He or She who sings, prays twice (St Augustine).
11. Guaranteed seating when the church is crowded.
12. ItLooks good on your resume.
13. You finally learn how to sing the songs in your range and not just the Soprano range.
14. For the fitness buffs, singing in the Choir is not only heart healthy, it's soul healthy. And there are no monthly membership fees. Seriously, though, for the most part, people that sing tend to live longer and enjoy more vital health.
15. If you think your singing in the shower sounds good now, just wait till you've been singing with us for a few weeks.
16. From your special vantage point every Sunday, in which you look out at the entire congregation from the choir seats, you will develop interesting new hobbies. Among these is a little guessing game called "Who's Praying, Who's Sleeping?"
All that aside, remember.....
God is the primary audience of our worship, and what better way to feed our souls than to sing his praises!
